US Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Andrew Young and 5th Cabinet Member of Burkina Faso's government test positive for Coronavirus

Burkina Faso’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Harouna Kabore has become the 5th cabinet minister to test positive for coronavirus.

The U.S. ambassador to Burkina Faso, Andrew Robert Young also tested positive for the virus as confirmed in a tweet he shared.

The tweet reads;

Solidarity. I received a positive test for COVID-19. The U.S. Embassy has taken steps to quarantine affected community members. Our services to American citizens will thus continue our efforts to support GoBF against the virus.

In a tweet shared on Monday, March 23, Harouna Kabore said he took to self-quarantine at home after several people he met tested positive for COVID-19.

The tweet reads;

“The minister will continue his self-confinement at home although presenting no symptoms.

“He invites anyone who has been in contact with him lately to contact the health authorities.”

Four other Burkina Faso ministers; the education minister, territorial administration minister, foreign minister and mining minister had tested positive for coronavirus on March 20. The government on Friday announced a dusk-to-dawn curfew throughout the territory and closure of its borders

24 new cases of COVID-19 was recorded in the country on Monday, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 99.
