I’ve been living with HIV since I was 8 after a doctor said I would die at 12 - 27-year-old survivor shares experience

Twitter user Doreen Moraa was celebrating 20 years of living with HIV and wanted to share her story with Kenyans online.

Doreen posted a touching message while also sharing pictures of her as a young innocent girl who, according to doctors, was never to see past her 12th birthday.

She said doctors gave her four years to live when she was as young as eight, but went on to surpass that and mark 20 years living with the virus.

“2020 marks exactly 20 years since I was diagnosed with HIV. I was 8 years old when my parents were told I was HIV positive. Pensive face doctors gave me up to my 12th birthday. This August I’m looking forward to my 28th birthday. God is not done with me yet,” she wrote.

Doreen proudly accepts her condition and thankful for where she came from, something that was a great lesson to many.

Netizens applauded her for the courage and the positivity she has, not letting any stigmatization affect her beautiful smile and joyous life.
