Police allegedly push 80-year-old to death in Anambra

An 80-year-old woman was allegedly pushed to death by the Police in Agulu community in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State on Wednesday.

The incident was said to have happened when the Police officers pushed the 80-year-old woman while attempting to arrest her, Channels TV reported.

According to family members, on Wednesday morning, the policemen stormed the family’s compound early o arrest the deceased grandson for cult-related matters.

The old woman was reportedly begging the Police officers to leave her grandson, who is a sickle cell patient when she was allegedly shoved aside by the officers and she fell to her death.

President-General of Agulu People’s Assembly, Anene Orakwelu reacting to the news said the State Police Command will open an investigation into the incident.

“The DPO, Anaocha and the Commander, Anti-Cult have assured us that no stone will be left unturned in unveiling whatever thing that happened here,” he said.

Members of the community are demanding for justice to be served.
