“I will never box myself to please anybody” – Rema tells those who criticise his lyrics

Nigerian singer and rapper, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has taken to his Twitter page to respond to those criticizing his lyrics.

The youngster who is from Edo State sometimes involves his native language while making music. He also revealed in an interview, that he sometimes says gibberish things just to go with the flow.

In a tweet he sent out on Friday, the 20-year-old whose real name is Divine Ekubor, proclaimed that his lyrics, which he called his ‘Benin Lamba,’ are part of his Edo heritage which he will never be ashamed of celebrating.

I’m a proud Edo boy, I’ll forever celebrate my culture, I no go shame to use my Benni lamba, they can call me crazy all they want because they don’t understand it but I will never box myself to please anybody. When I hear beat I must misbehave! get used to it,” he wrote.
