Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Defeats Yoo Myung-Hee, Emerges The New Director General Of World Trade Organization

Former Nigerian Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, won the election for the position of Director-General of World Trade Organisation.

According to cable news, Okonjo-Iweala was chosen as the final candidate for the role after she polled 104 votes from 164 member country of the World Trade Organisation.

She defeated the South Korean’s trade minister, Yoo Myung-hee at the final stage of the race.

The official announcement would be made by the World Trade Organisation by 3 pm today.
