Terrorism may persist in Nigeria for another 20 years - Tukur Buratai

Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai has reacted following the announcement made by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on opening a full investigation into alleged war crimes and crimes committed against humanity by the terrorist group, Boko Haram and Nigerian security operatives.

Speaking from his self-isolation following the death of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, Major General Olubunmi Irefin, who died of complications from the COVID-19virus, He said the decision of the ICC would be a setback for internal security operations.

“The Nigerian Army’s attention has been drawn to a press release by the Prosecutor General of the International Criminal Court (ICC) on Friday 12 December 2020, alleging that she has found a reasonable basis to believe that ‘members of the Nigerian Security Forces (NSF)’ have committed acts constituting crimes against humanity and war crimes.
