FG To Shutdown Third Mainland Bridge For 72 Hours Closes Ibadan-Expressway For 48 Hours

The Third Mainland Bridge will be shut down for three days for another round of delicate expansion joints replacement.

Federal Controller of Works Lagos, Mr Olukayode Popoola who made the announcement on Wednesday, January 27 said the closure will help concrete set properly during the curing process’ to make the rehabilitation work perfectly and durable.

Popoola said the stoppage of movements that could cause vibrations will help to achieve this. The bridge will be closed from 12:00 midnight on Friday 29th till midnight on Monday 1st February 2021.

He said;

“Messers Boroni Prono is planning to cast three number expansion joints on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st.

” This will require total closure of Third Mainland bridge from 12:00 midnight of Friday 29th till midnight of Monday 1st February 2021.

“We are sorry for the inconveniences this may cause Lagosians.”
