FG extends NIN-SIM linkage deadline by 8 weeks

The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended the deadline for the ongoing National Identification Number (NIN) and Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) integration exercise by eight weeks.

The new deadline slated for the exercise is now April 6, 2021, from the initial deadline of February 4.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami), during the meeting of the Ministerial Taskforce on NIN-SIM registration which held on February 1 2021.

At the meeting, President Muhammadu Buhari was said to have expressed deep satisfaction with the progress made regarding the NIN-SIM linkage and commended the minister and all stakeholders for their roles.

In a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, NCC, Dr Ike Adinde and Head of Corporate Communications, NIMC, Kayode Adegoke, Pantami said that the reason behind the extension is to give Nigerians and legal residents more time to integrate their NIN with the SIM.
