Two feared dead as gas explosion rocks Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta

A gas explosion has rocked Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State, leaving two people dead and others injured.

According to Vanguard, the explosion occurred on Thursday morning, May 20, at the Marque event centre within the presidential library.

It was gathered that technicians were topping up gas into the air conditioner (AC) when it exploded.

Vanguard reports that Ogun state fire Service and some officials arrived promptly at the scene of the explosion to ensure that the situation does not escalate.

It was further learnt that the bodies of those killed in the explosion have been evacuated by the rescue team.

This comes barely a day after a gas explosion rocked Conference Hotel, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The explosion occurred around noon on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, resulting in the death of a technician and another yet-to-be-identified person.

Three others were left with varying degrees of injuries. They are receiving treatment in a hospital.
