Update: Christian Eriksen breaks silence following on-pitch Cardiac Arrest

Danish playmaker, Christian Eriksen has broken silence in a fresh statement after his cardiac arrest during his country’s Euro 2021 opener against Finland on Saturday.

The Denmark midfielder assured fans that he won’t give up after the health scare.

The incident happened during the first half of the game as Eriksen was walking alone near the sideline in the 42nd minute when he appeared to stumble and then fall forward.

His teammates immediately waved for trainers to rush to his aid. The players formed a circle to shield Eriksen as the medical teams performed chest compressions on the player.

Speaking in a statement issued through his agent to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the 29-year-old thanked fans for their well-wishes and said he “feels better”.

“Thank you, I won’t give up. I feel better now – but I want to understand what’s happened,” he said.

“I want to say thank you all for what you did for me.”
