Euro 2020: Italy trash Turkey in Competition Opener

The Euro 2020 kicked off with a winning boost for Italy after the Azzurris defeated the Turks 3 goals to nothing in the competition opening match.

The first 45 minutes of the match ended goalless with both teams been cautious of each other. Merih Demiral mistakenly put the ball into his own net in the 53rd minute to give Italy the lead, Ciro Immobile increased the lead 13 minutes later, Lorenzo Insigne made it 3 in the 79th minute to bury Turkey completely.

The Turks’ performance was poor throughout the match, they were not sharp in front and were flat at the back. The Italians, on the other hand, played with pace and utilised their wings more, they were also very organised at the back.

Italy are now on top of Group A with 3 points with the remaining teams still on zero points, Switzerland and Wales will have their face-off tomorrow in the second match of Group A.
