United African Republic: Nigerians react to Change of Name Proposal Received by House of Representatives
Nigerians online are reacting hilariously to the news that the House of Representatives have received a proposal to rename Nigeria to either the United African Republic or the United Alkebulan Republic.
It was reported that the proposal was submitted to the House of Representatives Committee on Constitution Review as part of the ongoing constitution review.
The proposal was submitted by a tax consultant, Adeleye Jokotoye at the South West Zonal Public Hearing in Lagos on Wednesday, 2nd of July 2021. He claims that the current name, Nigeria was an imposition by the colonial masters and so it should be changed.

Perhaps the United African Republic or 'Alkebulan' idea came from UK,USA,UAE. Alkebulan- ancient name of Africa meaning 'Garden of Eden' 'Mother of Mankind.'
Will it make the country any better?NO!

Why would they want to change the name from Nigeria to United African Republic? How will that change anything about the insecurity and bad governance we are getting as citizens?
This government is full of misplaced priorities. 🤦♂️ pic.twitter.com/s9E1jo2i78
