Veteran Nigerian Singer, Sound Sultan, loses battle to cancer
Veteran Nigerian singer, Olanrewaju Ganiu Fasasi aka Sound Sultan is dead.
According to his brother, Dr Kayode Fasasi, Sound Sultan passed on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at the age of 44 after a battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.
Sound Sultan’s career in the Entertainment sector started in the 1990s when he hosted shows to raise money for studio sessions.
By the end of that decade, he had won numerous local talent-hunt shows. He released his first single “Jagbajantis” in 2000, which has remained an evergreen song in Nigeria and beyond.
He is survived by a wife, three children and his siblings.
