“Actors should pursue multiple streams of income” - Actress Lota Chukwu reacts to alleged gender pay gap in Nollywood

Nollywood actress, Lota Chukwu has reacted to claims that there is a gender pay gap in Nollywood, hence why more actresses buy houses and cars than actors.

Twitter user had reacted to a post about an actress, Destiny Etiko, who gifted herself a mansion on her birthday recently. He tweeted, “Can’t remember the last time an actor bought mansion for himself. We keep unlooking the massive gender pay gap in Nollywood.”

In response to this, actor Baaj Adebule stated that there is no pay gap in the industry as both actors and actresses have the same pay grade. He, however, asserted that the money actresses use in buying mansions is not from Nollywood.

He responded, “I can confidently tell there isn’t a gender pay gap. Nollywood money doesn’t buy you a mansion”

Actress, Lota Chukwu, who gained popularity after featuring in Funke Akindele’s Jenifa’s Diary, countered this, saying Nollywood actors should consider pursuing multiple streams of income like actresses.
