Kanye West has officially filed to legally change his name to Ye!

The eccentric rapper, 44, formally filed a petition to change his name from his moniker Kanye Omari West to just Ye, with no middle name or last name, according to Los Angeles Superior Court documents obtained by The Associated Press.

West cited ” personal reasons” for the change. The docs were dated Aug. 11 but not sent into the court system until Tuesday. A judge must approve before the petition before it becomes official.

The news of West’s name change comes days before the 44-year-old is expected to release his 10th album Donda, named after his late mother.

West has held listening parties at stadiums in the run-up to the release, some of which have been attended by his four children and Kim Kardashian, who he separated from earlier this year. The former couple is currently going through divorce proceedings.

West has been known by Ye for several years, announcing on Twitter in 2018 that it was how he wanted to be known going forward.

‘The being formally [sic] known as Kanye West. I am YE,’ he wrote in a tweet on the platform on September 29, 2018.
