Radamel Falcao asked to leave Galatasaray as Turkish giants can no longer afford his salary

Galatasaray have asked star striker Radamel Falcao to leave the club as they can no longer afford his wages.

The Colombian striker arrived at Galatasaray in 2019, with 25,000 fans waiting for him at Istanbul’s Ataturk airport. But after scoring 19 league goals in his two seasons in Turkey, the former Atletico Madrid, Monaco, Chelsea, and Manchester United striker has been told to look for a new club.

Galatasaray president Burak Elmas has said the club’s financial problems after being hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic’s impact on ticket sales, meant they can no longer afford to keep Falcao or former West Ham midfielder Sofiane Feghouli.

‘I talked to Falcao and Feghouli,’ he told reporters.

‘They provided very good services to us but with this wage structure, we can’t pay their wages. We want them to find a club.’

Elmas added: ‘I hope they will respond and they will find a club for themselves in a short time.

‘We part ways with good relations.

‘This is a management decision and we won’t consider them for the coming season.’
