Twitter Ban: Government agencies revert to old ways of communication

The Federal Government on Wednesday said that the end of the Twitter ban in Nigeria is insight.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed stated this while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the virtual Federal Executive Council, FEC.

The FEC meeting was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the First Lady’s Conference room, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Mohammed, while giving an update on the suspension of Twitter’s operations in Nigeria following the government’s interface with the company, said; “The end for amicable resolution is very much insight.

We appreciate the patience of Nigerians. I want to assure you that we have made very tremendous progress. We have met with Twitter both physically and in writing. We are actually almost there.

The engagement has been extremely positive without any acrimony. We have made it clear what we want from Twitter.”

Recall that he recently led a team to engage with Twitter over the suspension of the company’s operations in Nigeria.

The team comprised the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa Pantami, Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola and Minister of State for Labour and Employment Festus Keyamo.
