Former CBN Deputy Governor, Obadiah Mailafia dies at 64

Dr Obadiah Mailafia is dead, the former CBN deputy governor died at the National Hospital Abuja this morning, September 19, at the age of 64.

Mailafia hailed from Randa in the Christian-dominated area of Southern Kaduna in Kaduna state.

He spent the latter part of his years advocating for a solution to the protracted killings in Southern Kaduna, which had been linked to armed herdsmen of Fulani origin.

It can be recalled that Mailafia was invited three times by the Department of State Services (DSS) over his claim that a governor from the north is the leader of Boko Haram.

After his release from DSS custody, Mailafia said he was ready to lay down his life for the country like Nelson Mandela, former president of South Africa, did for his country.
