“Who have we offended in this country?” – Nigerians react as Cross River LG Chairman empowers constituents with one tuber of yam, hoe and cutlass (Photos)

The photos of the “empowerment” being made to local farmers of a particular area in Cross River state has gone viral online with a number of people in awe over the event.

Chairman of Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State, Hon. Evangelist Margaret Inde is the person behind the empowerment of pilot farmers in the community – these farmers were each empowered with a hoe, a cutlass and one tuber of yam.

The Local Government boss disbursed the items during the 30th-anniversary celebration of the creation of the Obanliku LGA as well as the celebration of the New Yam festival held on Friday, August 27.

Photos of the event made its way to the internet and upon seeing the images, quite a number of netizens have criticized Hon. Margaret’s gesture towards the farmers, questioning why politicians are oriented in such a manner.

Other users were more or less enraged with the pilot farmers themselves who all assembled to receive the items gifted by the honourable.
