Britain adds Nigeria to “red list” testing for Inbound Travellers

''Worst ever" Covid variant hits Europe as first case is detected in Belgium

Nigeria has been added to Britain’s “red list” as the country tightens inbound travel screening

All inbound visitors to Britain will be required to complete a pre-departure screening. This is done to slow the spread of the Omicron variant, health minister Sajid Javid stated on Saturday that travellers from Nigeria will be required to undergo a COVID-19 test and will be quarantined in hotels.

Travel restrictions, according to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, are vital to curbing the spread of Omicron as experts strive to learn more about the variant’s transmissibility and implications for vaccine effectiveness.

The total number of verified Omicron cases has risen to 160, according to the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).
