CEO shocks 900 Workers by sacking them all on Zoom call weeks before Christmas

The world’s worst boss stuns 900 workers by sacking them all on Zoom call.

During a Zoom call just weeks before Christmas, the CEO of a mortgage startup laid off 900 employees.

During Wednesday’s webinar, Vishal Garg fired 9% of Better.com’s personnel, including the entire diversity, equity, and inclusion team.

On the three-minute Zoom chat, Mr Garg, who was visibly uncomfortable, told staff members that something dreadful was in store for them.

“I come to you with not great news,” the 43-year-old CEO said.

“The market has changed, as you know, and we have to move with it in order to survive so that hopefully, we can continue to thrive and deliver on our mission.

“This isn’t news that you’re going to want to hear. But ultimately it was my decision.

“And I wanted you to hear from me. It’s been a really, really challenging decision to make.”

Mr Garg did not hold back in announcing that he would be laying off 15% of his workforce.

Instead of waiting until after the Christmas holidays, Mr Garg delivered the shocking announcement during the call.

“This isn’t news that you’re going to want to hear… if you’re on this call, you are part of the unlucky group that is being laid off,” he said bluntly on the call.

“Your employment here is terminated effective immediately.”

In the video, one disgruntled employee can be heard saying: “Fk you dude. Are you fking kidding me?”

After the video was made public, Mr Garg accused hundreds of the now-redundant employees of “stealing” from their colleagues and customers by being unproductive.

“You guys know that at least 250 of the people terminated were working an average of two hours a day while clocking eight hours+ a day in the payroll system?”, the caustic CEO wrote in a series of texts obtained by Fortune.

“They were stealing from you and stealing from our customers who pay the bills that pay our bills. Get educated.”
