Navy frees Comedian Cute Abiola from Detention

Instagram comedian and Naval personnel Abdulgafar Ahmad, popularly known as Cute Abiola, has been released from NAVY detention after spending more than 10 days with the force.

Naval spokesperson, Commodore Suleman Dahun, confirmed the development to newsmen on Friday.

Some of his colleagues, including the popular Mr Macaroni, had raised the alarm over his whereabouts.

Cute Abiola’s last post on Instagram was on November 14.

According to reports, the funnyman was detained for posting a video of himself in military uniform on social media, an act that violates the armed forces’ social media policy.

Speaking with The PUNCH on Friday, the naval spokesman maintained that Ahmad knowingly violated the armed forces’ social media policy but was given a light punishment after he was tried for misconduct and indiscipline.

He added that Ahmad is no longer in naval detention as he has been released to serve his punishment.
