Prophet Sotitobire freed by Appeal Court

Founder of Sotitobire Praising Chapel, Prophet Babatunde Alfa, has seen his life imprisonment judgement overturned by the court of Appeal sitting in Akure, Ondo state.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment alongside five others over the disappearance of a one-year-old child, Gold Kolawole from the church.

Kolawole was one-year-old at the time of his disappearance from the church in Akure.

He went missing on November 10 during a Sunday service after his mother, Modupe Kolawole, dropped him at the children’s unit of the church.

After being sentenced to live imprisonment by the High Court, the clergyman approached the Appeal court to quash the verdict.

Delivering judgment today, the Appeal Court ruled that the circumstantial evidence the high court based its judgment, is not enough to convict him.

He was therefore discharged and acquitted.
