“I was called ‘hammer headed’, ‘OGORstina’” – Singer, Omawumi speaks on how being body-shamed affected her as a child
Popular Nigerian singer, Omawumi also known as Omawonder, has opened up on how being shamed over her looks affected her as a child.
Taking to her official Instagram page, the singer revealed that it affected her self esteem so much that she had to do heavy makeup before she could go out.
According to her, now that she is older, she has grown to love and embrace her imperfections including her forehead, stretch marks and celluites.
Sharing a portrait of her head, the mum of one wrote,
“I was one of those kids they used to call ‘Hammer Headed’, ‘OGORstina’ and ‘Ekpengbe forehead’… Infact one of my aunt’s used to call me ‘Beauty’, she said she was using it to prophecy into my life that I will be pretty someday
Now the only thing that has changed is that I’m madly in love with my imperfect me, with my ekpengbe forehead
