The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, has said there’s video evidence of popular rapper, Ice Prince Zamani, assaulting a police officer and it will be presented in court as evidence.

Nigerians woke up to the news of the rapper’s arrest today, September 2, and he was accused of abducting and assaulting a police officer in the early hours of the day.

According to SP Hundeyin in a statement shared on his Twitter page, the rapper was stopped for driving without a license plate and agreed to be taken to a station but in course of this, he abducted and assaulted the police officer in his car and even threatened to throw him in the river.

Some people doubted the authenticity of the story and requested video evidence as proof that the singer indeed assaulted a police operative.

Reacting to this, SP Hundeyin, in an update shared on his Twitter page, said there’s video evidence but they won’t make it public, but instead, present it in court as evidence. He also disclosed that a close friend of the rapper has seen the video.

“For those asking for video evidence, yes we have it. And no, we won’t release it. A very close ally of his has seen it. It will be presented to the presiding magistrate as part of our evidence”, he tweeted.
