A new photo has hit the internet showing staff of Sam Mbakwe International Airport, Imo state airport announcing flight departures and arrivals with a megaphone.
As funny and embarrassing as it may look, this is a photo allegedly taken by a passenger while waiting to board a flight.
Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, also known as Imo State Airport, serves Owerri, the capital city of Imo State in southeastern Nigeria.
The reason, why this happened, is yet to be known. However, we cannot confirm at the moment if this is the regular way it is done at the airport. We hope authorities look into this to investigate what went wrong and rectify it as soon as possible.
You may recall that just last month, the arrival section of the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport was gutted by fire. An airport official told reporters that the fire began at about 2 pm and lasted almost an hour.
“It happened at the arrival department of the airport, but Fire Service officials arrived early enough to prevent loss of life, even though some equipment were damaged.” a source said.
