Zlatan Ibile & Naira Marley were both arrested by EFCC, real reason revealed

Zlatan Ibile and Naira Marley were both arrested by EFCC operatives this morning.

The Nigerian musicians Afeez Fashola aka Naira Marley and Omomniyi Temidayo aka Zlatan Ibile are said to be undergoing profiling in order to establish their affiliations with internet fraudsters aka ‘yahoo boys’.

According to top sources, the duo woke into the waiting hands of some EFCC operatives who stormed Zlatan’s house in the early hours of Friday in Lagos. The anti-graft agency has since seized their laptops and phones to conduct forensics to determine their link to cybercrime; “Yahoo Yahoo”.

The source added that of the two artistes are also under the agency’s investigation for songs and comments glorifying cybercrime; most recently “am I a yahoo boy?” released on Thursday.

The news has been trending on the internet since it broke this morning. Celebrities including Davido and Onyemykke have taken to their social media pages to ask that the artistes be freed.

CSP Dolapo Badmus has thrown shade at Naira Marley as news circulates that the singer has been arrested by EFCC on his birthday.

Just last month, Naira Marley took to Instagram to defend internet fraudsters popularly known as ‘Yahoo-Yahoo’, saying it is not a crime. In the defense of the fraudsters, the musical artist stated that Yahoo-Yahoo is not a crime because slave trade justifies it. He wrote:

If u know about slavery u go know say yahoo no b crime..

In another post, he called on Nigerians to pray for Yahoo boys:

“All you guys, all the money in your pockets, all the money you spend, you think it’s the government that is making the money go round?
You better sit down and pray for yahoo boys. If them stop yahoo, the money would not pass you guys”, he said.
